Back in the late great year of 1994, I had a friend who went by the name of Vic "da Worm" Fricano (he ran the local junior high numbers and bootleging business). He knew these guys in a band called Rubber Mushroom/Cheezlog. I heard them play a few times and liked the idea of a band, so I started playing bass. In the fall of 1995, the Rubber Mushroom legacy ended and Jason began putting together a new band. After being turn-downed by a few people who could play bass, he asked me to join. I brought my brother in to the band. The other guitarist was Ambient Joel. Thus, Spangler was formed, five months later it disbanded for one minute and reformed under the name Men of Yip with "Rockin" Ryan McGarry replacing Ambient Joel. We gathered a fan club and played shows for a year and a half until musically differences set us on different ways. In the winter of 1997, Jason and I had a side project that we decided to bring to the forefront (used to be Tugboat). This was Half an Hour from the Airport, a band that played what is best described as art music. We would take random instruments and play them for fifteen minutes. We decided that songs like "Wiseman on the Wall," "Acoustic Feedback," "Davy Crockett’s Coon-skin Hat Shoppe" weren’t very radio-friendly so we wrote our first cheezy pop song, "51 Fire Engines." We spent almost every Sunday of the next 10 months recording our cheezy pop album "What’d she say."

Now with an itching to play live again, we have joined forces with local popsters Matt Livermore and Matt "Matt-dogg" Walters. We joined with them for the Half an Hour from the Airport live experience.
