Jason

"I’m just this average guy," says Jason. "I like music, go to college, and wear shoes that are funny in a cute sort of way."

Jason was born in California and moved around a bit as a child. For the past eight years, he has lived in Minnesota. "I was never really cool," he tells me. "I had my friends and we hung out, but we weren’t the ‘in’ crowd." In junior high, he played in a punk rock band named Rubber Mushroom. They wrote fine songs such as "One man monkey band" and "Rectal Thermometer." The highlights of Rubber Mushroom were playing at the Ninth grade school party and having their old name, Cheezlog, in the yearbook three times in class pictures. "It was all about playing, we didn’t really sound that great but we had a fun time. It was punk rock," reminisces Jason. In High school, Jason started a band called Spangler. The all-star line-up was Jason on drums, Ambient Joel on guitar, JT on bass, and Randy Kleinman on lead guitar. Due to musical differences, Spangler broke up and Jason formed Men of Yip with Justin Kleinman, Randolph Kleinman, and Rockin' Ryan McGarry. After a year and a half, MoY called it quits but Jason and JT continued on. "Now I’m in a cheezy pop band. We have a good time writing songs but I’m anxious to get back on stage and play some shows."
